Sajid Mehmood Shahzad

Sajid Mehmood Shahzad Vice-Chancellor, Minhaj University Lahore, is a retired naval officer who has held many key positions in his naval career and has proved a role model for his successors. He gained a doctorate from the University of the Punjab, succeeding M. Phil with top distinction from National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad in International Relations. He has a strong understanding of Maritime Affairs and writes on Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs. He frequently published in reputed national and international research journals and magazines. He has not only served as Director Maritime Affairs and Environmental Control at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad, but has also written nationally appraised books addressing burning maritime issues and expounded enigmas of the blue economy in one of his exquisite, titled Impact of Pakistan Maritime Affairs on Blue Economy in Backdrop of CPEC. His latest book Pakistan Maritime Tourism is also gaining equal popularity in the Pakistan and abroad. He has held strategic positions in the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, the premier organization involved in policing the Maritime Zones of Pakistan, and has earned accolades for participating in a prestigious mission to China for the construction of frontline Warships for the Pakistan Navy. In 2003, he was appointed Deputy Military Secretary to Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, then Prime Minister of Pakistan, while serving as PSO to Chief Executive Secretariat from 1999 to 2002. Before retirement in 2019, Prof. Shahzad served as Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Welfare & Rehabilitation) prior to that he was Station Commander Navy Lahore, where he served for over four years.
